The Students as UCD are popularly known made history by becoming the 1st UEFA Fair Play entrant that currently playing at 2nd tier qualifies for the next stage of UEFA Europa League, they started winning in Luxembourg but then F91 Dudelange came with all their power and they first equalize and quickly went ahead in the score but the goal that UCD scored made possible that because of the away rule the Irish side qualify for the 2nd qualifying round.
Newtoan AFC from Wales in their 1st ever appearance in a UEFA competition qualified for the next round
It was a successful day for the 3 Norwegian, Slovak and Latvian clubs as all of them progressed to the next round
In this round the countries that are represented with 2 clubs like Denmark, Sweden, Cyprus and Poland, their respective clubs qualified to the next round.
The big names that were eliminated are:
Neftchi Baku, Dinamo Tbilisi, FK Aktobe, FK Crvena Zvezda, HNK Zrinjski, Sheriff Tiraspol
It was an historic day not only for Lincoln Red Imps, also for Gibraltar football as Lincoln recorded an amazing away win coming from behind vs FC Santa Coloma from Andorra, The match was played at Estadi Comunal and FC Santa Coloma went ahead in the score thanks to Ildefons Lima in the 44th minute, in the 2nd half Lincoln played with fighting spirit and they equalized early in the 48th minute thanks to a goal scored by Bardon, Lincoln kept pressing and they scored the 2nd goal thanks to Casciaro, it was the 1st time ever that a Gibraltarian club was winning a UEFA competition match, Lincol did an intelligent match as they kept at bay the Andorran side.
At the end the final whistle was blown by the referee and history was made, Lincoln became the 1st team from Gibraltar to progress of stage in any UEFA competition.
Now Lincoln will face Danish champions FC Midtjylland and they hope to repeat this same excellent performance.
It was a day with historic wins for the humbles, big shocks and also a successful day for some countries with all their representants in this stage like Norway, Poland and Armenia.
Both Polish clubs Jagiellonia and Slask Wroclaw were successfull winning their away matches
Jagiellonia Byalistok returned to European competition after some years of absence and they won in Lithuania vs Kruoja 1-0 thanks to an agonic goal scored by Karol Swiderski in the last minute of the match.
Slask visited Slovenia to play vs NK Celje and they won 1-0 thanks to agoal scored by Robert Pich.
All 3 Norwegian representants got important wins Odd won and historic match vs Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0 in Moldova
Stromgodset won at home 3-1 vs Partizani Tirana and Rosenborg BK won 0-2 vs Vikingur in Faroe Islands.
Armenian clubs Alashkert and Shirak got historic wins vs important teams In Yerevan Alashkert won in their debut at European competition 1-0 vs St Johnstone from Scotland and Shirak won 2-0 at Gyumri City vs HSK Zrinjski from Bosnia-Herzegovina
Ulisses got an away draw 0-0 vs Birkirkara FC from Malta
It was a very good day for all 3 Estonian representants, Kalju got an historic win vs FK Aktobe in Kazakhstan, Sillamae Kalev draw vs Croatian giants HNK Hajduk Split and FC Flora won vs Macedonian powerhouse FK Rabotnicki.
Other newcomers who won in their debut were Newtown AFC from Wales, they faced Valletta FC from Malta and Newtown won the match in the last minute, historic win for the club from Wales.
Also FK Trakai from Lithuania in their maiden debut at European competition won 3-0 vs HB Torshavn from Faroe Islands.
History was made for the Irish side as they claimed an amazing 1-0 win vs Luxembourg powerhouse F91 Dudelange, UCD a team that plays in 2nd tier and qualified for the competition as Respect Fair Play.
On paper it was F91 Dudelange the favorite to win but UCD did a good match making proud all their fans and showing fighting spirit.
It was Ryan Swan who scored the goal in aggregate time of the 1st half causing a lot of joy and euphory among the UCD fans.
Now UCD will go to Luxembourg with the slender lead of 1-0 hoping to win again or at least draw and dreaming to qualify for the next stage that would be historic for the Students as they´re oftenly called.
It was a positive day for the 3 Latvian representants at UEFA Europa League 1st Qualifying round with Skonto and Spartaks Jurmala getting great wins vs important rivals as St Patrick´s Athletic FC and Buducnost Podgorica and Jelgava draw 1-1 vs Litex Lovech.
