Historic night for Europa FC, first victory from a Gibraltarian club in Europe!

The UEFA Europa League 2016-17 new season has started with the 1st qualifying round, 1st leg and there was a shocking result, Europa FC became the first club from Gibraltar to win a match in UEFA Competition.

Europa FC won 2-0 vs Pyunik Yerevan, a club that has won several times the Armenian title.

Kazakhstan teams had different luck on this day, FK Aktobe drew 1-1 vs MTK Budaest, Kairat Almaty got an important away victory in Albania vs Teuta and Ordabasy Shymkent lost in Serbia vs FK Čukarički.

The new season is just about to start next week and last Monday was made the draw for the 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds.

in the 1st Qualifying round its the debut in the competition for Armenian champions Alashkert and The New Saints FC are looking forward to qualifying for the next stage this time.

Gibraltar champions have a hard task if they dream to reach the next stage while in the 2nd qualifying round there are many debutants in the competitions, Finnish champions have a hard test vs experienced Belarussian champions and former UCL group stage participants BATE Borisov.
