Weekend review

It was a weekend full of surprises mostly in Germany and France and some clubs have already proclaimed champions too.

OGC Nice continue surprising all France and they are solid leaders of the Ligue 1 after they won 4-2 vs FC Metz.

RasenballSport Leipzig won 3-1 vs Werder Bremen and they continue impressing all Germany, they are doing an amazing campaign in their sason debut in the Bundesliga, this is the best performance from a promoted team since Hoffenheim amazing run in the 1st part of the 2008-09 season(all 2008).

In Norway and Faroe Islands there were champions who were proclaimed, in Norway Rosenborg won the championship and Vikingur did the same in Faroe Islands, both clubs will play the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds next year.

CAF Champions League 2016 winners Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have produced an massive shock by winning the CAF Champions League and becoming the 2nd South African team to win it after Orlando Pirates won the competition in 1995 and became the 1st South African team to win the prestigious tournament.

In their 2nd appearance in the final, 15 years ago they played against Zamalek arch rivals Al Alhy and lost it, now they took revenge and won it in an amazing style vs Zamalek.

Mamelodi won 3-1 on aggregate vs Zamalek, 3-0 in South Africa and they lost 1-0 in Alexandria, Egypt.

Now Mamelodi Sundowns will represent Africa in December in the FIFA Club World Cup that will take place in Japan.

Racing Strasbourg 2-1 Auxerre

Racing came back to the victories and they got a great and important victory vs Auxerre 2-1 in the Stade de la Meinau, for Racing goals were scored by Boutaib and Guillaume.

Racing is now placed in 10th place in the Ligue 2 table.

Next match of Racing will be away vs Sochaux on October 29 in Montbeliard.

1.FC Saarbrücken, FC 08 Homburg, Borussia Neunkirchen and SV Elversberg secured their place to the next round without problems, the mos attractive match in this round was between SV Röchling Völklingen and Borussia Neunkirchen, the Saarstahlderby and Borussia won it 2-1, both teams also meet last October 8 for the Oberliga Rheinland Pfalz Saar and Röchling Völklingen won it 2-1

Bengaluru FC 1st club from India to play an AFC Competition final!

History was made today as we will have a new AFC Cup champion and also its an historic day for Indian football as Bengaluru FC defeated current AFC Cup champions Johor 3-1 and on aggregate it was 4-2 and will play for the 1st time in their history the AFC Cup final also its the 1st time that a club from India will feature in an AFC Competition final.

Bengaluru surpassed the expectations and just in their 2nd appearance they are getting in the final, last Indian club that reached the most far in the competition was Dempo in 2008

Also another surprise in the final will be Air Force Club from Iraq after they won vs Al Ahed 4-3 on aggregate, its the 1st time that an Iraqi club will play an AFC Competition final
